Varsity Soccer vs Garber by Vincent Papajesk

Bay City Central Varsity Soccer faced off against Garber High School on Friday, September 28th. As an intense match up, it was 80 minutes of non stop action.

The game held some importance. It was also the senior appreciation night for Central. Before kickoff at 4pm, BCC principal Tim Marciniak had the honor of introducing the eight seniors, two of them including the foreign exchange students.

While intense, the matchup was very even. Central was coming from an 0-8 record, the boys were hoping to pull through with a win. But Garber wasn’t giving in very easy. Central couldn’t get the ball out of their defending third and only had very few shots.

Coming in at the 52nd minute, Central unfortunately gave up a fluke goal. Even after that, the goal conceded didn’t let the Central squad down. They immediately adapted to Garber’s playstyle but Central couldn't pull through completely and kept fighting until the final whistle was blown.

But after all that fighting, BCC lost against Garber, 1-0. BCC Senior, Brody Brilinski said in the post-game huddle, “This was the best game of soccer that we have played this season,” giving the team hope and more motivation leading into the rest of the season. Central is now looking to fight for their first win of the season against Laker High School on Thursday, October 4th.
